Elvis Presley

“Elvis is alive”, wrote one of his admirers on the walls of his Graceland estate, where Elvis lived and died. “Some people go to Mecca, we go to Graceland” said another through graffiti on the wall. In one of his songs, Elvis asks “Why me, Lord?” probably feeling chosen by God. His life and personality are the subject of many legends. That is why astrology will help us to discover where the truth ends and the myth begins.

Elvis Presley, the King of rock and roll, was born during a night-time storm, before the dawn of January 8, 1935 in Tupelo Mississippi. He had a twin brother. However, the other baby died the following day. Thus, from the first days of his existence, Elvis Presley developed intense and contrary emotions within himself. On one hand, he felt the sorrow of his parents due to the loss of his twin, and on the other hand, he felt their great joy that he had survived. These strong and contradictory feelings experienced at the dawn of his life would perhaps be the reason for his future search for thrilling sensations.

Whatever the case, Elvis was born at the moment when the Sun was in Capricorn. His Ascendant is located in the sign of daring Sagittarius. His Moon was then going through the sign of sensitive Pisces. Although Elvis was born in a poor family, the stars prophesized from his birth that he would become wealthy by entertaining people. More precisely, the Sun, symbol of the ego, is in a powerful embrace with Mercury, planet of communication. Mercury also embraces Venus, planet of art, who holds firmly on to the North Node. All this is happening in the house of money (2nd). The original Uranus located in the house of creativity (5th) indicates that he would discover new ways of expression through his work. Powerful Pluto located in the house of sex and death (8th) reveals his enormous sexual energy and sex-appeal. It also indicates karmic debts linked to sex remaining unresolved from his previous life. Aggressive Mars, located high in the sky in the house of reputation and career (10th), reveals an energetic approach to work and shows that Elvis could have become an excellent serviceman or policeman. Thus, unlike a cold and calculating Capricorn, the position of the stars at the moment of his birth make Elvis a turbulent Capricorn, a slave to his passions, a man who did not know how to say no to women, alcohol, drugs, and flirting with death.

Two determining factors of his early life greatly influenced his choice of music, over becoming a military or police officer. The first is the gift his parents gave him for his 11th birthday. Although Elvis wanted a bike, his parents gave him a guitar because it was less expensive. It cost only $12.95. The second fateful event that would influence the development of his personality occurred when the Presley family moved to a black neighborhood in Tupelo. This was unheard of amongst their peers, but nevertheless, the Presleys were hardly concerned about breaking the unwritten racial rules: they merely wanted a larger apartment for the same price. In that environment, besides country music, Elvis was introduced to the music of black culture: rhythm & blues and gospel.

1948In 1948, Jupiter, planet of happiness, crossed his Ascendant and his house of self (1st) thus marking the beginning of a new 12-year cycle in his life. During this time, the Presleys moved to Memphis, and Elvis took on small jobs to help his family. In an altogether extravagant style at that time, he wore clothes bought in shops for black people. The most important event of this era is when he heard someone say that a “certain Sam Phillips” was opening his Sun recording and production studio in Memphis.

In 1953, Jupiter passed through his house of work (6th), charismatic Neptune traveled through his house of reputation, and the North Node, passing through the house of money, touched his natal Venus and natal North Node. Elvis found work as a chauffeur. For four dollars, he cut a record that he gave to his mother for her birthday. He frequently visited Sam Phillips’ studio until he was noticed and hired for one of the groups that recorded for Sun. However, Elvis sounded out of tune and hardly sure of himself in the first recordings. Nothing would have come from this if Destiny had not intervened. Marion Keisker, Sam Phillips’ secretary and mistress, was won over by Elvis’s mixture of shyness and confidence. She pushed her boss to give him a chance. At the beginning of the recording, Elvis sounded less and less sure of himself, and his singing grew increasingly worse. Sam Phillips then called two local musicians to help the young singer. At the end of the recording, in order to unwind, they began to play an accelerated version of the rhythm and blues tune That’s All Right Mama. Sam was enchanted. A star was born. Rock and roll was also born.

– Where did Elvis’ shyness and lack of confidence come from?

Because of their innate inferiority complexes, Capricorns generally behave in a reserved manner and are not very sure of themselves when they have not yet succeeded in life, when they have not yet become somebody. In Elvis’s case, another determining factor for this is the powerful embrace between the Moon, indicator of feelings, and cold Saturn at the moment of his birth. This indicates that, as he grew up in an environment poor in love or money, where emphasis was placed on obligations, work, and responsibility, he was ashamed of his feelings and suppressed them. Therefore, sorrow took the place of his joie de vivre, while his confidence was replaced by feelings of worthlessness. From that moment, so as to be accepted, Elvis tried hard to be perfect in everything. The large jewels he wore later in life, after he had become famous, are proof of this inferiority complex.

Nevertheless, success and glory did not come easily to him. Enormous amounts of work, leading to exhaustion, went into his efforts, as he sought perfection in his musical interpretation as well as his image. Although Sam Phillips knew that he would make millions when he found “a white boy who could sing like a black man”, he sold his contract with Elvis for 35,000 dollars to RCA in November 1955, in order to pay his debts. Tom Parker, called “the colonel”, then became Elvis Presley’s new manager. This took place while the North Node crossed his Ascendant and Chiron crossed his natal North Node, in the house of money. Elvis recorded his first single for RCA, Heartbreak Hotel, selling millions of copies. The next year, he signed a contract with Paramount Pictures to make seven films.

March 1957In March 1957, when Jupiter entered his house of reputation and the North Node touched his natal Jupiter, planet of prosperity, Elvis bought the large property called Graceland and converted it into a luxurious estate, not knowing it would be his golden cage until the end of his days. Just before Christmas 1957, when he was at the height of his popularity, Saturn, the enforcer of destiny, crossed his Ascendant, and tried to make him come back down to earth and test what he had learned up until then. Christmas 1957 This is why Elvis was called under the draft at exactly that time. Saturn remained in his house of self (1st) until March 1960. Those three years were truly hellish for Elvis. He fulfilled his military service far from his home, in Germany. He reached rock bottom in August 58, when his mother died of hepatitis, at only 46 years old.

– Was he really a mama’s boy, as many say?

Astrology confirms this. Having grown up with a constantly sullen and taciturn father, Elvis was closely tied to his mother. In order to satisfy her and assure her of his love, he tried to be perfect in everything. This is where his perfectionism and need to do something more than others, something spectacular, comes from. More precisely, in his chart, the Sun, symbol of the father and ego, is attacked by Mars and Pluto. For its part, the Moon, symbol of the mother and feelings, is stifled by Saturn.

As the stars predicted, Elvis returned to America in March 1960. Luckily, his glory had not yet diminished. In fact, during his absence, his manager periodically released songs Elvis had recorded before his departure. However, his enormous popularity was equally due to the original manner in which he interpreted his songs, as well as his sex-appeal. He will forever hold a place in history for the erotic way he swung his hips, which until then was something only black musicians did. Thus, whether consciously or not, he contributed to weakening the differences between races, classes, sexes, and religions through his music. Music was a method of communication, and he was accepted throughout the entire world. He said one day on this subject:

“The first time that I appeared on stage, it scared me to death. I really didn’t know what all the yelling was about. I didn’t realize that my body was moving. It’s a natural thing to me. So to the manager backstage I said ‘What’d I do? What’d I do?’ And he said ‘Whatever it is, go back and do it again.’”

As for his love life, the relationship between Elvis and Priscilla Beaulieu was crowned by their marriage in 1967, when the North Node crossed Elvis’s house of love and children (5th). They had a daughter one year later. However, a continuous stream of women still passed through his bed, including nearly all the Hollywood beauties of the era, from Ann Margaret, to Ursula Andrews, to Natalie Wood.

– Did Elvis have as much energy in bed as he did on the stage?

Much to the contrary, the stars reveal that he was a reserved lover, without much imagination or initiative. This is confirmed by Venus in the cold sign of Capricorn and the Moon in close contact with cold Saturn, ruler of Capricorn. In reality, he only asked women to be present and compensate for the loss of his mother, not to be real life partners. However, this does not mean that his sex life was not tumultuous. Eccentric Uranus, located in his house of love, indicates unusual events in this area as well as perversions. One of his mistresses, Natalie Wood, answered her sister’s question “How’s Elvis?” by saying “He knows how to sing well, but doesn’t really know how to do anything else.”

– What is the reason behind his destructive behavior, his abuse of food, alcohol, and drugs?

In his chart, the Sun is attacked by aggressive Mars and Pluto, indicating a lack of self-control, a lack of sobriety and a constant need for affirmation. Moreover, his Ascendant is found in the sign of hedonist Sagittarius, whose ruler Jupiter is located in the sign of Scorpio, inclined towards vice. Therefore, Elvis will go down in history for his passion for cars and collection of Cadillacs. Among these, one first notices the car decorated with diamonds and oriental carpets.

Elvis will also be remembered for his lack of taste in clothes and the large jewels that helped him hide his inferiority complex. Nevertheless, he also had some positive phases. He used up his excess of energy in horse riding, football and karate, a discipline in which he received a black belt. That is perhaps why his ego was hurt even more badly when, after five years of marriage, Priscilla left him for his karate teacher. They officially divorced in October 73, when Saturn crossed his house of love.

His cleverly concealed fear of solitude then became reality. He couldn’t be helped by performing on stage, medications, or young women. He asked women only to stay beside him in his bed, but did not have the strength to have sex with them. Solitude flowed through his veins, rattled in his ears, frightening him constantly, and pushed his friends away. What doctors had been predicting for a long time finally happened: the King died of a heart attack on August 16, 1977. Perhaps one of the greatest ironies, the King did not die on his throne, but on the toilet seat. At that same moment, the North Node and Pluto crossed his natal Mars in the house of reputation. At the same period, Mars passed through his house of public, while Neptune crossed his Ascendant. This shows that news of his death had the effect of a bomb and gave a new dimension to his existence.

Graceland , his house, was transformed into a museum and became a place of pilgrimage attracting people from all over the world. Some of them are also convinced that Elvis is still alive. Whatever the case, his albums still sell millions of copies today. Time embellishes memories, especially about Elvis. Today, nobody remembers Elvis as a medication junky, nor do they remember that he once smashed a dozen televisions in a rage, or took a plane to Las Vegas to buy a hamburger. Even the majority of women who spent a night in his bed say today that he was a gentleman.

Despite his lightning ascension from poverty to richness, Elvis still resembled an ordinary kid from Memphis. That is why his tragic end and the manner in which he was lost in the world of adults have carried him into legend.
